The Tallahassee LMAG celebrated the life of Dr. Raj Arora on the campus of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University and Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) College of Engineering on October 3, 2024. 

Dr. Arora, who passed away on January 7, 2024, at the age of 87, was a Life Senior Member of the IEEE, Life Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, and a past Chair of the IEEE Delhi Section.  

He was born in New Delhi and began his schooling in India. He pursued his passion for mathematics and physics, culminating his formal education with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of St. Andrews in Dundee, Scotland.

He was proud to have received the Khosia Research Award from Roorkee University in India, where he became one of its youngest professors. He later taught at Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (III-Delhi), the University of Clemson, and finally at FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, the joint college of engineering of Florida A&M University and Florida State University, in Tallahassee, Fla., where he served on the faculty for almost 35 years.

The celebration was attended by 35 people in Dr. Arora’s family, Tallahassee LMAG members, professional & student members of the Tallahassee Section and Dr. Arora’s colleagues from the university.
