This is a joint meeting of Canadian Society of Senior Engineers and IEEE Life Members Affinity Groups.
This series of presentations has been occurring for more than 20 years and is now being also advertised to the IEEE Northern Canada Section (NCS) Life Members Affinity Group (LMAG) through vTools and other IEEE LMAG's and IEEE members depending upon the topic. At the same time the Canadian Society of Senior Engineers (CSSE) is using their national organization to provide information, the subject and speaker to members across Canada.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday May 16, 2024. The meeting will open at 12:30 pm MDT (2:30pm Eastern), with the presentation starting at 12:45 (2:45 pm EDT). The meeting will be held via the Zoom platform, with the actual invitations sent the afternoon of Wednesday May 15. Summary: The presentation will discuss the results of a utility study to evaluate the impacts of electric vehicle (EV) adoption rate on residential secondary systems. The residential secondary system spans the zone from a 50kVA pad-mounted transformer to individual house meters via underground cables – also known as Levels 0, 1 and 2. The study compares the results in three different subdivisions and housings..
Bio: Matthew Chang is a senior engineer with ATCO Distribution working in the Distribution System Planning Department. His work experience in ATCO ranges from street light design, distribution overhead and underground power line design and distribution planning. With recent surge of distributed energy resources (DER), his work has focused on DER connection studies and protection & control requirements for both export and non-export generations.
