In October 2023, 17 Pikes Peak Life members and spouses gathered to celebrate their 2023 Global Achievement Award.
During the meal, there was a panel discussion on the creation of Silicon Mountain in Colorado Springs in the 1970s and 1980s. Many Pikes Peak Life Members came to Colorado Springs to work for the founding companies of Silicon Mountain: Honeywell, NCR Microelectronics, Mostek, Inmos, and Ford Microelectronics.
Four panelists discussed how several of these companies came to Silicon Mountain and described their rise and fall. We learned that while these companies may have gone, the manufacturing facilities and design groups that they brought to the Springs continue today under other names.
