I believe in a Second Chance. That was the ultimate gift of life for my mother, a kidney transplant recipient.
Recently, my sisters, Jennie & Linda, and I traveled with Team Hawaii as volunteers at the Transplant Games of America (TGA) held in Birmingham, Alabama, 10-15 July 2024. Sharing stories, Team Hawaii took home three gold medals (Shot Put, Softball Throw, Discus) and a bronze medal (Long Jump) in Track & Field.
Supporting our athletes, a living donor, a transplant recipient, and a medical professional of the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii served as a small gesture in giving back to a system that promotes and inspires organ & tissue donations. My family and I are forever grateful and thankful for my mother’s successful transplant that extended her life and improved the quality of her life by 12 years.
