Multiple IEEE Life Members presented at the 2023 IEEE Rising Stars Conference.

Founded in 2014, the IEEE Rising Stars Conference for students and young professionals has grown to attract attendees from across the United States, Canada, and around the world. The conference engages its attendees by addressing their collective need for opportunities to network professionally, share ideas, and become more innovative. We accomplish this through a variety of workshops, engineering competitions, seminars, and corporate and professional mixers.

Earlier this year, the IEEE Life Members website published IEEE Life Fellow John McDonald account of his experience speaking at the 2023 IEEE Rising Stars Conference.

Other IEEE Life members on the 2023 Rising Stars program included:

  • Michael Andrews, Workshop: Capturing your Dream Job – Story, Resume, Search, Sales, and Acquisition
  • Ed Tiedemann, Keynote presentation: Our Most Ubiquitous Tool, er, Toy; The Miracle of Cell Phone Technology
  • Tom Coughlin, Breakout session: What if All Memory Were Persistent?

The Next Big Thing Panel

Tom Coughlin, 2023 IEEE President-Elect, also moderated, and Ed Tiedemann was a panel member at the last technical event of the conference, The Next Big Thing Panel: A Glimpse into the Future. The panel allowed industry representatives to provide a perspective and insight into what they believe their company and the industry will be doing in the next few years. The panel members, which also included Heather Monigan, Kent Dicks, Timothy Lee, and Melissa Sassi, gave the audience a roadmap to their professional success in each of their industry segments.
