In a context of growing asymmetric conflicts in which unconventional mines and other improvised explosive ordnance are used in many different ways, attention has to be paid to technological and organizational solutions allowing for more effectivity in mine action. Legacy contamination as well as new and ongoing contaminations call for responses that take advantage of the latest developments in all mine action-related fields.
The International CBRNE Institute (Belgium) and its network partners are developing solutions in order to guarantee the safety of the responders, the efficiency of the methods used, and the possibility of better collaboration among different actors.
