EV Race China’s Silk Road, Around the World in 80 Electric Days

Please join us for our third live event and lunch this year! No prepays, please pay cash/check at door. The idea for this lunchtime session at Beeb's with Don Christian came out of our lively meeting there in April:
A group of Electric Vehicle enthusiasts raced around the globe in 2016, recharging with local electric power only. The group crossed 20 countries in Europe, North America, and Asia, and covered 28,962 km (18,026 all-electric road miles). This represented a unique test for their 11 assorted EVs, and for charging on local utility power only. The team crossed vast stretches where NO EV chargers exist. They encountered many other problems: navigation, communications, geograpy, languages, automotive reliability, electrical, immigration, politics, potholes, accidents, and flat tires.
EV driver and IEEE Sr Life Member Don Christian will give an account of this global adventure trip. Don has has worked at high-tech companies around the world, largely in silicon valley, and is listed on many US and foreign patents. He holds BSCIS from Ohio State and MSEE from SMU Dallas. He drives one of the EVs that he manufactured in China.
