What is called "the American Magnetic Telegraph" began in 1847 with Samuel Morse's invention. What followed was an intense flurry of invention and development of telegraph devices and worldwide systems. The program will include a slide presentation on the telegraph system, a demonstration of a telegrapher's workstation from 1900, and exhibition of several devices that made up the telegraph system in the USA.
