The IEEE Tallahassee Area Section and the PES Chapter are co-sponsoring the 2024 ECE Graduating PhD Research Presentation Competition.
Four graduating PhD students (listed below) will do a 15-minute presentation on their research. The presentations will be judged and 2 awards will be given: (1) IEEE PES PhD Presentation Award and (2) IEEE Section PhD Presentation Award. Each award winner will also get $200.
Competing PhD Presenters (in tentative order of presentation) are:
– Sophia Owais (Advisor: Dr. Faruque) "Quantum Random walk: Building the bridge from quantum computation to machine learning"
– Weiwei Wang (Advisor: Dr. V. DeBrunner) "Very Efficient Convolutional Neural Network Based on Discrete Hirschman Transform"
– Satish Vadula (Advisor: Dr. Anubi) "Fault-tolerant Decentralized Control for Inverter-based Resources"
– Paul Mensah (Advisor: Dr. Pamidi) "Cryogenic Electrical Insulation for Superconducting Power Distribution Systems"
Following the presentations there will be pizza and beverages available while the judges determine the winners.
