Title: Calgary Airport to Banff Rail (CABR)
Presenter: Bruce Graham
Summary: The presentation will include a brief history and overview of CABR. Expected benefits of the project and how CABR fits into Alberta’s Vision for Passenger Rail. CABR's Solution for Tunnelling the Green Line (Calgary Airport Downtown Express Plus 15 Solution)
Bio: Bruce Graham is the Executive Director of Friends of Calgary Airport to Banff Rail (CABR) an independent not-for-profit entity created to increase awareness and advocate for passenger rail service in the Bow Valley Corridor (https://friendsofcabr.com/). Bruce is also engaged in local government and stakeholder relations on behalf of the CABR Proponents (Liricon Capital and Plenary Americas).
CABR has a recently revised proposal through the Province’s Unsolicited Proposal Framework to provide passenger Rail Service from Downtown Calgary to Banff at no cost to the Province recognizing the Provinces desire to build and operate Calgary Airport to Downtown passenger rail service with connectivity to Regional Rail Service including CABR, Calgary Transit LRT and future High-Speed Rail service from Edmonton to Calgary.
CABR and Friends of CABR have presented a potential solution to connecting the Green Line to Downtown Calgary as an alternative to tunnelling through downtown a solution for which the Province is currently investigating. The Calgary Airport Downtown Express (CADE) Plus 15 solution is intended to be a viable solution to connecting the Green Line and the Calgary Airport with Passenger Rail Service to Downtown Calgary while preserving the opportunity for Region Rail Service in keeping with the Province's vision for passenger rail service in Alberta.
Previously, Bruce was the inaugural President and CEO of Calgary Economic Development from 2003 to 2015. He is currently a Senior Advisor at Osborne Interim Management. Bruce and his wife Kathy have two adult daughters and reside in Calgary.
