The Life Member Sub-Committee for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (Region 8) has promoted Young Professional cooperation under the slogan “The Current YPs are the Future LMs.” This new initiative encourages LMAGs to extend their activity to support and cooperate with other IEEE and non-IEEE entities.
The cooperation may include administrative and technical help at set-up LMAG meetings, endorsing nominations and technical programs, providing meeting speakers, and organizing common events. Various similar activities have been reported by the LMAGs of the Sections Czechoslovakia, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia, and the United Kingdom & Republic Ireland in conjunction with local and section-related events.

In addition to reported activities at Czechoslovakia, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia, and United Kingdom & Ireland LMAGs, the sub-committee provided financial support for the IEEE R8 Student and Young Professionals Congress 2022 in Tunisia.
The sub-committee also supported the 8th International Youth Conference on Energy (IYCE’22), a student-led face-to-face technical paper conference held in Eger, Hungary, on 6-8 July 2022. Peter Magyar, Region 8 Life Member Coordinator, presented at the meeting on behalf of IEEE, Region 8, and Life Members.
