Region 7 launched its Group Mentoring Initiative pilot at the IEEE Student Professional Awareness Conference (SPAC-24) in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on November 1, 2024. The late Terry Branch, former R7 Life Member Coordinator, had planned this event prior to his death. About 200 people participated in the event: 150 students from three Ottawa IEEE Student Branches and 50 other professionals from industry. Current Region 7 Life Member Coordinator and Ottawa LMAG Chair Wofram Lunscher manned the Life Member booth at the networking event and participated in the Group Mentoring panel.
