
In December 2025, the 2nd Group Mentoring Initiative (GMI) event was held during a SYWL (Students, Young Professionals, Women in Engineering, and Life Members) Workshop at Ritsumeikan University’s Osaka Ibaraki Campus. This event was jointly organized by the IEEE Japan Council’s LMAG, YP, SAC, and WIE Groups and expanded the reach of GMI activities to participants in Kansai, Hokkaido, Sendai, and the Tokyo Section by being held in conjunction with the SYWL Workshop.
The mentoring event had 42 participants, including students, young researchers, and IEEE Life Members. The group mentoring topics included: Reflections on Early Career, Coexisting with AI, Career Sustainability, Benefits of IEEE Membership, and Questions from Students, YP, and WIE attendees. Professor Imai concluded the event by providing an overview of the Group Mentoring Initiative.
