DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\nBeamforming has emerged as a critical technology for 5G\, SATCOM and 6G applications. In commercial 5G millimeter-wave frequencies (24\, 28 and 29GHz) large-scale arrays of nearly 1000 elements are utilized on the infrastructure side to ensure robust links across reasonable cell sizes. SATCOM terminals exploit even larger arrays to achieve the required EIRP and G/T for multi-orbit operation across LEO MEO and GEO orbits. Managing these large-scale array implementations while keeping power consumption and cost in check requires co-optimization across system design array design and beam former design.\nAs we look towards the emerging bands of >100GHz in 6G\, while beamforming will be a critical technology to these links\, the choice of array architecture remains open. In this presentation\, we will discuss research at Columbia University towards scalable 140GHz arrays in 45nm RF SOI technology with 512-elements and record EIRPs of >60dBm (1000x superior to the state of the art). DESCRIPTION:The Space Shuttle program\, initiated by NASA in 1972 and concluded in 2011\, marked a revolutionary era in space exploration. This reusable spacecraft system comprised five orbiters: Columbia\, Challenger\, Discovery\, Atlantis\, and Endeavour. They collectively completed 135 missions. Highlights include the deployment of the Hubble Space Telescope\, pivotal work on the International Space Station\, and numerous scientific experiments yielding invaluable insights. The program experienced both triumphs and tragedies\, notably the Challenger and Columbia disasters\, which underscored the inherent risks of space travel. Ultimately\, the shuttle program left a legacy of innovation and international cooperation in human spaceflight. The presentation will provide an overview of the space shuttle development\, its design and operations\, and provide insight into the Challenger and Columbia Disasters.\nIEEE members need to pay $20.00\, to offset the cost of the lunch\, which covers about 80% of the actual cost. They can search systems\, choose tools\, update records\, trigger workflows\, and make changes in business applications.\nOnce an agent can take action\, it should be treated like a system identity. It needs its own identity\, a clear owner\, limited permissions\, and rules that control what it can do.\nThis talk uses a simple employee-badge analogy to explain the idea. An agent is like an employee or contractor\, and its identity is the badge. Least privilege means the badge opens only the doors needed for the job. DESCRIPTION:ASTRON's predecessor organization\, Stichting Radiostraling van Zon en Melkweg (SRZM)\, was founded on 23 April 1949 to build and operate the first radio telescope in Dwingeloo. SRZM oversaw the construction of the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope between 1965 and 1970. The NWO established a new organization\, ASTRON\, in 1980 to handle other branches of astronomy not covered by SRZM; the two were merged several years later to form the current ASTRON organization.\nASTRON pursues a technical development programme\, aimed both at providing innovative instrumentation for use on current observing facilities and at laying the groundwork for future generations of telescopes and signal processing instrumentation.\nTo these ends\, the ASTRON facility in Dwingeloo maintains a well equipped R&D division specializing in the design\, prototyping and qualification of:\n– Low noise\, ambient and cryogenic radio receiver systems (0.2–345 GHz)\n– Very high speed digital electronics\n– Antennas\, especially in the array environment\n– Advanced instrumentation for use at optical and infrared wavelengths\n– Algorithm and software engineering for instrument control and for imaging\nOude Hoogeveensedijk 4\, 7991 PD Dwingeloo\, Dwingeloo\, Drenthe\, Netherlands\, 7991 PD
