SUMMARY:IEEE CTS CTCN/LMAG Zoom Meeting\, 8-20-2026\, "The Agent Is an Identity: Why AI Agents Need Least Privilege\, Limited Access\, and Runtime Checks"
DESCRIPTION:AI agents are starting to do more than answer questions. They can search systems\, choose tools\, update records\, trigger workflows\, and make changes in business applications.\nOnce an agent can take action\, it should be treated like a system identity. It needs its own identity\, a clear owner\, limited permissions\, and rules that control what it can do.\nThis talk uses a simple employee-badge analogy to explain the idea. An agent is like an employee or contractor\, and its identity is the badge. Least privilege means the badge opens only the doors needed for the job. Bounded access means it works only in the right building\, on the right floor\, for the right task\, and for a limited time.\nThe session also explains why every action should be checked at runtime\, why the target system must still protect its own resources\, why access should be short-lived\, and why every agent action needs a clear audit trail.\nAttendees will leave with a practical way to think about AI agent security: treat the agent as an identity\, limit its authority\, and check every action before it reaches an enterprise system.\nSpeaker(s): Venkata Patelkhana\nAgenda:\n6:25 to 6:35 PM – Open for participants to enter and network.\n6:35 to 6:40 PM – IEEE LM and CTCN Business meeting and to introduce speaker.\n6:40 to 7:55PM – Formal Program and Q&A.\nVirtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/571370

SUMMARY:Visit to ASTRON - Dwingeloo
DESCRIPTION:ASTRON's predecessor organization\, Stichting Radiostraling van Zon en Melkweg (SRZM)\, was founded on 23 April 1949 to build and operate the first radio telescope in Dwingeloo. SRZM oversaw the construction of the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope between 1965 and 1970. The NWO established a new organization\, ASTRON\, in 1980 to handle other branches of astronomy not covered by SRZM; the two were merged several years later to form the current ASTRON organization.\nASTRON pursues a technical development programme\, aimed both at providing innovative instrumentation for use on current observing facilities and at laying the groundwork for future generations of telescopes and signal processing instrumentation.\nTo these ends\, the ASTRON facility in Dwingeloo maintains a well equipped R&D division specializing in the design\, prototyping and qualification of:\n– Low noise\, ambient and cryogenic radio receiver systems (0.2–345 GHz)\n– Very high speed digital electronics\n– Antennas\, especially in the array environment\n– Advanced instrumentation for use at optical and infrared wavelengths\n– Algorithm and software engineering for instrument control and for imaging\nOude Hoogeveensedijk 4\, 7991 PD Dwingeloo\, Dwingeloo\, Drenthe\, Netherlands\, 7991 PD

SUMMARY:The other AI challenge: building the stewardship capacity to keep pace with the technology.
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence is expanding human capability at an extraordinary pace. But technology is only half the story. As capability accelerates\, our capacity to understand\, govern\, and responsibly apply it must keep pace. Drawing on historical perspective\, decades of technology leadership and experience\, and a new framework called Balanced Growth \, this talk asks a simple question: can we grow our stewardship capacity fast enough to match our technological power?\nSpeaker(s): John\,\nAgenda:\n4:30 – Introductions\n4:40 John Daniels Presentation\n5:30 Questions\nRoom: Classroom\, Bldg: Main Enterance\, 50 Woodmont Ave\, Londonderry\, New Hampshire\, United States\, 03053\, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/571587
