The IEEE Young Professionals (YP), in conjunction with the Delhi Section and the Delhi Life Member Affinity Group (LMAG), held two Group Mentorship Events:

In March 2026, Cafe Savad 1.0 was held at Panchshila Club in New Delhi, India. This event featured Dr. H.L. Bajaj, IEEE Life Fellow and Chair of the Delhi LMAG, who shared profound insights on leadership, ethics, and personal development. The dialogue emphasized that leadership is defined by values and lifelong learning, not by professional position alone.

In May 2026, Cafe Samvad 2.0 was held at the IIIT Delhi campus. This event was attended by 30 students, faculty, and researchers from multiple institutions in the area. The speakers were Life Members Dr. SS Jamuar and Mr. Rajendra Asthana.

Dr. Jamuar engaged the audience by describing his early-career journey, including his transition from Communications to the Electronics Department at IIT Delhi. He described his 15-year tenure abroad before returning to India to join IIE Dhanbad. He focused on the benefits of IEEE membership, leveraging IEEE for growth and the prestige and network of an IEEE Life Member.

Mr. Asthana offered a comparative analysis of the engineering landscape, contrasting the academic and professional environment of his time with the current era. He highlighted the evolution from a generalized Electrical Engineering degree to today’s highly specialized fields. He described his extensive global contributions as an IEEE Life Member. From initiating Life Member tracks at R10 conferences, spearheaded the 1st Life Member Conference in Austin, TX, and expanded group mentoring sessions originally started in Region 7.
